Greenwich pensioners, veterans of the Battle of Trafalgar, in 1854. The man seated second from left is identified as Richard Baker, a Black sailor born in Baltimore in 1770 who served aboard HMS LEVIATHAN (74) during the battle. Image attributed to John Havers, via the Royal Collection Trust.

The Trafalgar Ancestors database shows a Richard Baker, born in America, rated as an Ordinary Seaman aboard LEVIATHAN from 23 November 1803, although that man is listed as 24 years old, that would make him born c. 1779.
